Ivory Soap Clouds and The Schoolroom’s Not So Progress

It’s been raining for several days here.  Beautiful, glorious rain!  We’ve been suffering a terrible drought here in Texas–so it’s a welcome sight!  However, with 3 little boys in the house…it gets boring and messy REALLY fast.  Here’s how today went….

We made Ivory Soap Clouds!  Just grab a bar of Ivory (the only soap my mama ever used, so I happened to have some!).  I haven’t told y’all the story behind my mama, have I?  I will soon.  Stay tuned.

ONLY use Ivory.  Other brands will not work.

Pop it into the microwave for a minute or so on regular power.  And voila!  Fun!  I then food processed mine with some water and dye to let the kids make shaped bath soaps with cookie cutters.  I honestly would omit this ‘super mommy’ step as it causes massive clean-up efforts on your part.  EXTREMELY messy.  Here are a few pics…

The soap!

Ready to microwave!

Watching! (I’m thinking cancer causing activity here…)

Soap Clouds! Feel really cool too!

Foodprocessed, dyed, and playing. This is before the massive mess that I didn’t take a picture of. Most likely because I was drowning in Ivory Soap Clouds. Don’t you hate when a fun activity ends on a bad note for you?

And now for the update on all this classroom business.  Allow me to preface:

Husband traveling,

5 year old,

3 year old,

1 year old,

Pregnant, hesitant, no vision homeschooling housewife….

Poopy diapers,

“Can We Help?”

“We’re Hungry”

“Hudson’s Eating something….”

After all that.  Here’s where I’m at…..Hold me close, y’all!

What a stellar learning environment…

“I really love her use of space…” (eye roll) This will be my calendar wall VERY soon!

Books to the left, what will be supplies and learning trays to the right. Some day…. Before August 6th….

That’s it!  It was an EPIC nothing got accomplished type of day.  His mercies are new everyday, though.  Praying I wake up another day healthy, able, and take a few more steps in the right direction!  Love you all!

God bless you Liz. I know I couldn’t do all you do even when I was young. God only expects our best and that you are doing. I am sure he is smiling down on you and saying,”You go girl”. Take care of yourself and remember and I am sure you do is that your family comes first. If the house is a mess and your family needs you, the house will still be there but the boys and Keith are constantly growing older and it is not worth missing out on a minute of any of it. I love you and miss you guys. So much for my nurturing comments today. You go girl!!!!!!

  2. I’m sorry you had “one of those days”! I’ve had lots of them too, and they can be discouraging. The boys will remember the Ivory soap clouds for years to come (and may even make them with their children), and nobody will remember the messy school room.

Thank you Wendy! It’s so true. I try to remember that. But….sometimes the overwhelming list of things to do just makes me want to ‘shoo’ them so I can get it all done. Tomorrow is a new day! Thanks for your comment and for visiting my blog!
