Organizing Homeschool Papers

Now that we’ve accumulated various papers, pictures, tests, keepsakes, etc. etc. etc.  I figured it was time to get an organization system going for it all.  I’m the opposite of a hoarder and thoroughly enjoy filling a Hefty trash bag, however I do like to hang on to their stuff until I can decide what to keep.

I grabbed two tubs from Office Max the other day and just laminated recent pics of the two school-aged boys, laminated, labeled, and stuck ’em to the tubs.  That’s it!

 

 

Inside I am filing under these labels (for now):

Reading

This will be mainly any phonics worksheets we do (rare), my notes on how he’s doing from month to month, maybe a book we’ve made together to keep.

Spelling

I do give spelling tests, so I’ll be holding on to those here.

Math

I’m going to keep his Math-U See Certificates and tests here–and eventually the completed workbooks until I decide what to do with those long term.

Art

As the title suggests…art!  🙂  Cute stuff.  Silly stuff.  The stuff that’ll make me cry his first night away at college.  I like self-inflicted torture like that 🙂

Keepsakes

Pictures, his cap and gown he’ll wear after Kinder Graduation, picture of his first lost tooth, etc.  I bought a large tote, so all this should fit.  I am also NOT a scrap-booker of any sort, so this will really be a memory catch-all.

Holidays

Projects/Memories/Pictures of holiday happenings with school.

Field Trips

Field trip souvenirs, pics, ticket stubs, etc.

And then, a Miscellaneous tab.  Because I’m a miscellaneous type of gal 🙂
