The trouble with toddlers and teaching…

This post offers no advice. Or solutions.  Or inspiration.  Nada.  Zilch.  Zip.  All I really want to say is that homeschooling with a 15ish month old is not fun.  For lack of a better word.

And, while my sweet little toddler is a blessing and I do enjoy him…getting schoolwork done while a little person is terrorizing the room around you is a challenge (understatement).  You have the same trouble up in your parts?  The toddler troubles?

I’m just letting y’all know I am too.  We’ll get through this…..oh I reckon’ just around the time I have another bambino.

This is homeschooling life.  In the trenches.  I love it.  But, it ain’t easy.  Here’s my groundbreaking, non-organic solution (Just something I must share…he has lots of toys, snacks, and cartoons on that side of the gate-but he still doesn’t like it):

*Note:  No toddlers were hurt in the writing of this blog post 😉

  1. Oh how I laughed at this! I love his little face. 🙂 It reminded me of how we got through that stage – EXACTLY the same way! We put a “play yard” in our school room, dumped all kinds of child safe toys in it and let the little one have a blast in what we dubbed her “jail”. She’s no worse for the wear now. 🙂

  2. Oh, this is the story of my life right now. I’m trying my darndest to do homeschool preschool with my 4 year old, but I also have a 2.5 year old (whom I sometimes call Destructor) and a 4 month old to take care of. I just keep reminding myself that in a few years things will be much better!

    • I am RIGHT there with you Heather! My 2 year old is AWFUL right now. If they sold a cage, I’d buy it, seriously!!!! LOL!!!! We’ll get through this–together!

  3. Thank you so much for reminding me im not alone. Just started homeschooling
my 5th and 6th graders while my 1 and almost 3 year old run-a-muck.

  4. Okay I just laughed out loud! I know this is an old post but we are doing this right now and I say the same thing. I imagine a world where all the children are calm and wanting to learn in the same room…HA! It’s crayons on the wall, papers everywhere, diapers falling off and 8 year old tantrums about writing. And you know what….I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love having my babies with me (all 4 of them) and I have found comfort reading your blog and seeing I’m not alone. Thank you for your honesty and real-life stuff.
