I Think I’ll Call Him Spanx

Last weekend I went out of town for 24 hours to spend some time with my BFF.  My husband stayed behind with the kids and they had some bonding time.  I missed them desperately and although I loved my time away, I couldn’t get home fast enough!

While I was gone, my phone calls home were filled with encouraging “you need this time away..” and “we’re doing great!”.  My hubby held down the fort just fine and I was really able to relax.

Then, he left for California for the week and I’ve been on my own.  I tell you what.  The minute that boy backed out of the garage, the garage door got stuck and has been half-closed all week long.

The day after he left, in preparation for the ‘big freeze’ that was coming our way, I needed to go to the grocery store.  I loaded up the kids as the winds gusted.  I turned the car on.  Dead batter.  Oy vay.  Keith would usually just jumped it real quick with his car and I’d be on my way.  Not this time.

I kept the kids strapped in the car and ran quite a ways down the street to my neighbor’s house.  She’s a little old lady, y’all…but I needed to get the bread and milk!  She came over and we couldn’t get it to work.  Then, we had to call my other elderly neighbor, Bob, and he fixed it.  I got to the store and back and did the bed time routine.

Then, that huge freeze hit Texas and I had to quickly go drip faucets outside late at night because I had forgotten.  My sweetie usually does that stuff.

I had a few blog issues this week as well that I really was clueless on.  Keith would have known how.  Le sigh.

That boy.  He just kinda keeps it all together.  He’s like a good pair of Spanx.

I may look like a homeschooling mom to 4 boys that has it all together.  I have this blog and I’m busy.  I bake and it seems like I’m supermom.  It’s not true, y’all.  I’m really just a couple thighs that rub together with a ton of cellulite.  Keith is like my Spanx.  From the outside, because of him and all he does, I look smooth and tight and good.  Then, when you take those things off, everything just kinda explodes in all directions.  Kinda like when he’s gone.

Yep.  I think I’ll call him Spanx.

Liz! This is perfectly said! Without Nate, I’d just be a disastrous tornado. I may run the home front, but he keeps my craziness in check and keeps it all together for me. Love those hubbies!

  2. I LOVE this post Liz! Thank God for our Spanx!!!!!! 🙂
